:: Click to activate issue removed in april 2008 internet explorer update ::

April 23, 2008 By: admin Category: CS3, Dreamweaver, Updates, browser, internet explorer No Comments →

Was able to pick this update from a good source.

As of April 2008, the activation behavior is permanently removed for all customers as part of the April 2008 Internet Explorer Cumulative Update (947864). This IE cumulative update replaces the IE ACA previews released in December 2007 and February 2008.

What this means is customers who install the IE Update (947864) will no longer see the “click to activate” prompt even for Flash content that do not have the javascript fix. Note that Flash content with the javascript fix will still work even with the IE update.

for more information on the click to activate issue see the wiki article:Activex issue*

* ACTIVE X ISSUE

Issue

when viewing a flash movie, a “click to activate” prompt appears on your Flash movie

Details

This happens on Internet explorer 6 and 7.
This is happening because of a change in how internet explorer treats active x content. The Flash file will not start unless you click on it.

Will Show a Gray Box around the swf file when you hover your mouse iver

Solution

This is the official Adobe page that tackles the issue:

http://www.adobe.com/devnet/activecontent/

Using Dreamweaver CS3

Dreamweaver CS3 will use a javascript fix for this automatically. The file AC_RunActiveContent.js in the scripts folder will apply the fix and the Flash movie will run without the click to activate issue.

Using Dreamweaver 8

update to Dreamweaver 8.0.2. The updated Dreamweaver, version 8.0.2 will also use a javascript fix for this automatically. Once you update DW8, when you open a page with Flash content, DW will ask you if you want to apply the fix. Click on yes and the pages will be updated to have the javascript fix.

Using other html editors

if you are not using DW cs3 or 8 then you can apply a 3rd party fix.
Here’s an example of a javascript fix from a third party web site. This workaround has been reported by a lot of users as a quick solution for their websites and Flash.

:: Tutorial Reference: Learning Cascading Style Sheets ::

April 13, 2008 By: admin Category: CS3, CSS, Dreamweaver, Tutorials No Comments →

CSS has played a major role to almost all of the websites today. One advantage that you can get in applying CSS to your page is a faster download time. CSS makes this possible because is separates the content from the layout of a page.

If you visit a social networking site, or if you have your own blog. Most of them provides customization with your own page using CSS. Friendster, MySpace, Multiply, are some of the social networking sites that provides CSS customization to your page. For blogs, wordpress provides css customization for hosted account or is you host your own blog powered by wordpress.org.

Everybody wants to edit their page of course. It provides a uniques look to your web page. Distinction. So if you want to learn how to use CSS, where will you start? That’s a good question. I got here a good article from Adrian Senior (team macromedia) about Designing your site with CSS. It’s a 6 part tutorial and he manage to explain everything in detail. The instructions are pretty much straight forward so you can easily follow it. This is the tutorial that I used when I’m a starter with CSS. now I’m proud to say that I’m a CSS SME (subject matter expert) in our team.

So I hope you enjoy this tutorial and learn from it! Please click on the link below to go to the tutorial.

:: Dreamweaver CS3 Issue : Pasting from MS Excel 2008 for Mac is not working ::

April 11, 2008 By: admin Category: CS3, Dreamweaver, Emmerging Issue No Comments →

Important Note:

Problem is isolated to MS Excel for Mac 2008. Reverting to an older version (ex: excel 2004) is working fine.

I got this from Wikipedia. It was developed by Microsoft’s Macintosh Business Unit and released on January 15, 2008

So far…

I believe that this issue has already been reported to the engineering. No info as to when a fix will be release so far though. I think this is a bug or a compatibility issue since CS3 was released on the market before MS release this version of their MS Office. Hence, it was not tested on this version of MS excel. :)
I’ll update this post when I get an update from some of my connections . :)
Peace
