Dreamweaver CS3 : Some Emmerging issues
I gathered some information and found out that Dreamweaver CS3 has several emerging issues.
1. Dreamweaver freezes at initializing files
·This is mostly encountered on Windows Vista Home Premium with Acer computers. No resolution yet.
2. Coldfusion 8 tags are somehow switched
·This issue only occurs on Macintosh machines.
The <cfdefault> and the <cfswitch> tags are being switched in Coldfusion 8 Templates
3. Login Feature in ADDT does not work with PHP 5.2.5 version
·The Login Feature in the ADDT package will fail to work if the version of PHP on the server is PHP 5.2.5.
·This requires further testing since this is not reproducible on PHP previous versions.
·The built-in Login feature in Dreamweaver shall work fine (the one from Data Objects), so this can be an alternative.
·The error code when you preview the page on the browser after submitting the form : Error code: -12263

I found it on another site. It’s conflicting with Acer eDataSecurity…. and you can uninstall that and DW will work.

@ Toni Marie - yup i have my post updated already. you need to uninstall e data security to be able to run dreamweaver. please refer to http://sidapolinario.unicpinoy.com/2008/05/02/dreamweaver-cs3-hangs-on-initializing-files-in-windows-vista-home-premium/
Kind regards.

Solution for those who want to keep eDataSecurity functionality AND have their Dreamweaver CS3 version 9 on Windows Vista:
Note: You will lose ‘Drag and Drop’ functionality of eDataSecurity, but if you’re like me, you didn’t even know how to use it or care about it anyway. MUST GET DREAMWEAVER WORKING!
First you must restart your computer in safe mode. You can do this by finding the ‘System Configuration’ program by opening what used to be the ‘Start’ menu (reads as damn you to hell Bill Gates) and typing it into the search bar.
Once open, you’ll want to select the ‘Boot’ tab at the top, then under ‘Boot options’ select ‘Safe boot’ and then ‘Minimal’. Click OK and it will ask you if you want to restart. Click OK if you’ve saved all and any work that you have open.
Once you have rebooted, navigate to the following folders and rename PSDProtect.dll to something other than that like noPSDProtect.dll:
C:\Program Files\Acer\Empowering Technology\eDataSecurity\x86
C:\Program Files\Acer\Empowering Technology\eDataSecurity\x64
Restart your computer and voila! You now have Dreamweaver AND eDataSecurity up and working until the negligent bastards at Acer AND Egis Tec get off their respective asses and give everyone the update to that module. No thanks goes out to those worthless bastards and Bill Gates is the devil.
Good morning, and in case I don’t see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!

Thanks guys, DW now works ok after changimng the name of the PSDProtect.dll. Just bought the Acer yesterday … bad experience so far but (their own support setup is terrible and time wasting) lets hope that’s the worst of it behind me.
Thanks again.

I’m getting similar error on my HP TX2170ee laptop with 4 GB RAM running Vista Home Premium.
[Window Title]
Microsoft Windows
[Main Instruction]
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 has stopped working
[Content]
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
[Debug] [Close program]
This means it is NOT Acer specific and ADOBE Inc must do something about it. It’s tooo bad as I didn’t bought CS3 to face (unhandled exceptions) errors. Is anyone at Adobe Inc LISTENING?
What kind of code have you guys written to read simple ASCII files? Why there’s an unhandled exception? Does it cost much to catch all exceptions?
THIS is not ACER specific. Please fix it asap.

Hi Sagar,
Im sorry to hear about what you’re experiencing. But i’s possible that your machine has a program which functions similarly as the ACer’s E-data security management. Why dont you try to run your machine first on selective startup mode and try to launch Dreamweaver CS3? Just make sure that you eneble “Flexnet service” when you’re on the SERVICES tab of the msconfig dialog box.
Here’s the link where you can get the instruction on how to run windows vista home premium on selective startup mode
Installing Dreamweaver CS3 in Selective Startup Mode on Windows Vista

I hope this helps.

Thank you Thank you. Thank you a million times….
Having spent nearly two weeks cursing Adobe, rebooting, reformatting and installing new, reloading all my settings and software, shouting at the kids and the wife, long nights, no sleep - your site gave me the answer to the hanging DW - yes you guessed it I have an Acer Aspire M3200 with Vista Premium and 3gb RAM computer - 2 minute job to uninstall Acer E-data Management as I don’t need it and voila! Easy as pie.
Thanks Thanks and more Thanks….

I can confirm the Acer issue. After spending a full day searching and trying solutions from various forums and Adobe on both DW 8 and CS3 I stumbled across this thread.
Acer 4520G with Vista Home Premium, uninstalled the Acer eDataSecurity software, rebooted and both DW8 and CS3 work as normal.
Thanks for the tips!

Thank you for this post! I have CS3 Ultimate and Dreamweaver cs3 (aka dreamweaver 9) would hang and crash at “initializing files”.
Still your page was my reward for quite a bit of googling.
Maybe some keyword spam here will help others find you - windows vista ultimate 64 acer dreamweaver won’t load won’t run “initializing files” hangs crashes freezes.
Again, thanks for saving the day!
