Filipino Heritage features Darangen; PBT choreographs, designed by National Artist

Re-live the epic of Bantugen as the Philippine Ballet Theater (PBT) brings to life “DARANGEN NI BANTUGEN”, an ancient epic of the Maranaos, through dance in classical form.

As part of the Filipino Heritage Festival, PBT is commissioned to stage an epic from the South in full length ballet.

The production will feature world-class principal ballet dancers Jared Jehowil Tan and Faye Abigail Tan.  It is choreographed by PBT’s very own Artistic Director, Gener Caringal, accompanied by Jesse Lucas’ original musical scoring. Production design (set and costume) is created by National Artist, Salvador Bernal.

Watch Bantugen’s odyssey from the Kingdom of two seas to the Skyworld and back to Bumbaran on May 14 (7.30 pm) and May 15 (3 pm and 8 pm) at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo, CCP.
