I’m having this problem with Illustrator CS3 on a clean install of OSx 10.5.2 to a external drive. Adobe was of no help - they kept saying ‘use a supported OS’ and pointed to a non-existent link on the Illustrator product page. I feel like they’re being dishonest about Illustrator being ’supported’.

@mat: Hmm… I’m still waiting for a response from Adobe as well. I’m not pretty sure if there’s already a workaround/fix regarding this issue. Just in case I get an update, I’ll post it here asap.
By the way, just to clarify, do you mean that Adobe Illustrator is INSTALLED in an external hard drive?
